County Tax Bills Mailed November 1, 2019
The Montgomery County tax bills are being mailed Friday, November 1, 2019, by the County Collector’s office. Bills are mailed to the last address provided to the assessor’s office. Please contact the Collector’s office at 573-564-2389 if you do not receive your bills by December 1, 2019. Payments mailed must be postmarked December 31, 2019 to avoid interest and penalties. Please contact your local post office regarding postmarks and pick up times. Payments left in the office drop box must be put in before midnight December 31st to avoid interest and penalties. For those who use online bill pay with their bank to pay their tax bill, please check with your bank about the date the check will be issued. The banks do not directly deposit to us, they mail a paper check. Taxpayers have had issues in the past of those checks being issued in January, and being returned by our office for interest and penalties.
Merchant license renewals have also been mailed with the tax bills. They are due by December 31, 2019. The license will be good for the year of 2020. A business in the county, who charge sales tax, is required to buy a county merchant license.
A tax summary sheet will be included in your mailing if you have more than one bill. The summary adds the bills listed and provides you with a total. Please look over all your bills in your envelope to double check you have everything you own. Property bought and sold recently may not be reflected in your bills. Vehicle changes must be made with the assessor’s office. They may be reached at 572-564-2445.
Please visit the Collector page for information regarding payments and office hours.
